Frequently Asked Questions

“I want Durham Lawn Jockey to do my lawn. Now what?”

It’s as simple as providing us with your contact information. If you are currently with another provider, we suggest cancelling your account and getting a cancellation number. This is very important as some companies, “negative bill” and will continue to perform applications on your property and invoice you without your consent.

"When can I expect my first treatment?"

Depending on your area we should begin within a few days. If 7-10 days have passed, please call us. Generally we strive to begin ASAP.

"I'm starting halfway through the season. Isn't it too late?"

It’s never too late to begin working on your lawn in some capacity. All our programs can be adjusted to provide the proper treatments depending on the time of the year.

"What do you use to injure weeds?"

We currently use the same product as all other lawn companies, Fiesta weed control. It is a control and not a systemic killer like Killex, or Par III (prohibited under the bylaw). Anyone who tells you differently are not being truthful.

“What kind of results can I expect?”

Since the cosmetic pesticide ban there is no over-night fix. We must now consider the long-range health of the turf and help you create a lawn that will out-compete weeds and insects through the timely implementation of applications, education and dedication. To see eternity in a grain of seed, you need vision over eyesight.

“How soon can pets and children play on the lawn?”

After an application you will be left an invoice with instructions as to the care needed and minimum drying times before re-entry. This can be as soon as immediately following an application, or in the case of weed control treatments, within two hours given environmental conditions.

“What is an endophyte?”

An Endophyte is a naturally occurring fungus that helps grass species like tall fescue and perennial ryes to ward off insect infestation and help in overall drought tolerance. Although there is no silver bullet, endophytic grass types are less susceptible to these conditions.

“What payment options do you offer?”

We offer a number of ways to pay; Pre-paying for the season is the most cost-effective.  We accept Visa, Mastercard, cheques, and E-transfers. We are here to make it as easy as possible for you, so just give us a call and we’ll be happy to accommodate your budget.
